Abstract: The Peony Pavilion is a fictional legendary play created by Tang Xianzu. Its culture-loaded words, idioms and allusions
can fully show the style of Chinese culture, and it is also a key bridge among the author, the translator and its readers. Based on the
theory of ecological translation, this study tries to establish an ecological environment of translation so that translators can "adapt" and
"select" with the optimal translation method in the process of translation. By comparing different translations, it is found that translators
can convey text information through linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions, accurately show the full picture of the original
book, and help translators complete the dynamic process of adaptive selection and selective adaptation.
